When I created Buddha Awoken, I was asking questions that have followed me my entire life:
What is the meaning of life? Who am I? What is my purpose? What happens after death?

Since then, I’ve lost two of the most important people in my life (2017–18).
Through that loss, this piece has taken on new light. The Buddha’s open eyes now reflect that moment of realization — when awareness expands, and the darkness within transforms into illumination.

Raised Catholic, I grew up surrounded by stories from the Bible — stories that taught lessons about faith, compassion, and resilience. As an adult, I’ve explored other paths and borrowed what resonates. Among them, the story of Gautama Buddha — a young prince who left behind comfort in search of truth — has been a guiding mirror.

In Buddha Awoken, enlightenment isn’t a destination — it’s an awakening that happens in a single, eternal moment.
